Returning a lease car that has a fault

Options
I am returning my lease car early as I am purchasing a new one.  Only question is, the rear windscreen wiper motor doesn't work and the dealer has confirmed this as a warranty repair.  I have been waiting 2/3 months for the part.  Will the lease company still take it back? I think that it is an unreasonable time to wait for a part.  Car is MG through Santander.

Thanks

doubt it - how old is the car?

i would suspect you have to give them a chance to repair it.

you could tell them you are rejecting the car - but it would ultimately be up to a judge to decide if they are making the repair in a reasonable timescale.

6 months with an engine that doesn't work is probably unreasonable.

2/3 months for a rear wiper - maybe not.

    Thanks,

I'm not handing it back due to the faulty wiper, its just timing that it still hasn't been fixed by the time I hand it back.  I just don't want a repair charge for the lease company for something under warranty that's taking a while to get the part for.

right ok, I understand now - makes sense.

I'd speak to the lease company - if it's a fault under warranty I don't see how they can hold you responsible.

Lease co will just send it to auction. But it might get flagged up & you charged.
