I'd also stick with white plastic for the most part. A shiny brass socket with rope edging screams 80s/90s, but I wouldn't look twice at a standard white plastic one from the same era.

We have white everywhere, including in the kitchen where they blend in nicely with the white splashbacks. Get decent quality internals, but don't spend money on the appearance unless you absolutely love it as opposed to because someone on the MSE forum said you should! 😂

And I definitely wouldn't worry about what will look good with white walls if you're only painting them white temporarily. Are you going to replace them again next month when you choose the final colour scheme? That way madness lies!

I've gone with white throughout my house.  I had stainless steel in the last house, but actually white just disappears into the background - its also far cheaper to get good quality switches and sockets that "feel" nice and that will stand the test of time in white.

Aww FreeBear, now I seriously want some of those :)
Looks like fun. And you should have a bit of fun in your house. It's all taken far too seriously.

But the main issue is to have enough sockets and in the right places no matter what colour they are.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
