They are trying to con you, Ringo registers you as paid through your VRN, the pay machine registers you as paid through the VRN the signage is ambiguous it does mention a pay and display ticket.

Ignore the dimwits they are just con merchants that will huff and puff then fizzle out!

My suggested search was for general reading of other Scotland threads like yours where we've already answered.  Not one specific post.  In some of them we went into more detail but you seem to have understood everything already.

Thanks again for all your help. Better knowing now what to look out for in future. Seems like there's so many folk here so clued up that the forums defo the better spot for info rather than mse itself.

Glad I picked up the jist of it so far and fingers crossed the government drags its heels as per ushe on implementing this particular change!

Yeah, that's the angle I was going to take with my POPLA comments - really annoyed me they had the audacity to say it's all clear on signs when it's not labelled on all signs and not all signs are present next to paying machines - can only imagine they keep it that way to rake in money from those who don't know any better.

Ignore is the tactic from here on out for sure! Genuinely infuriating, now knowing all this, how obvious a tactic this is to scam money out of people using signage with only one of them having clear labelling of the display portion of pay and display.
