Switching Electricity only from Octopus to Tomato?

Hi, I’m currently with octopus gas and electric, but getting an EV in the near future so swapped to tomato energy’s lifestyle tariff for the 5p overnight unit rate.
They’re electricity only, will my gas remain with octopus on the current tarriff (fixed)? I find mixed messages online saying octopus don’t do gas only tariffs, but that’s what mine would be after the switch.

Also, has anyone had any experience with tomato? They seem good from the reviews but as they’re small it’s hard to tell.
Thanks in advance

I’ve I switched to Tomato a few weeks ago but still have my gas with octopus. No problem so far with the gas and very happy with Tomato Lifestyle tariff so far. I’ve had my first bill and it was correct and my data is updated every 3 hours on MyWatts showing half hourly use and cost. There is a dedicated thread for Tomato which shows they have had some negative issues.2

Yep, similar to @tlcgrantham, I think the confusion comes from the fact that Octopus won't accept anyone new with just gas, but moving electricity away seems fine. I think there were also potential issues with smart tarrifs for gas that you had to stay on standard rate.
Opinion, those who joint before mid November had quite a few teething issues but it all seems fine now - so if you joining soon you'll be fine. Things that are better than Octopus - your data is almost live (not the next day) and cheaper prices. My main concern is that at some point next year they will change their tarrifs a lot - right now there is so many of them - will the 5p remain? Nobody knows.2 -
Thank you very much!! Hopefully the 5p stays - that was another bonus I switched for as octopus’ EV tariff was variable (only being required to give us reasonable notice), whereas tomato’s is fixed for 12 months.0
