Hi
i am applying for a car sales job but I was bankrupt 3 and a half years ago. I am discharged and no restrictions. I was told by someone that you can’t get a cars sales job because of the bankruptcy record. But no one has given me a definitive answer.

They check my credit file after applying for the role but will a historic bankruptcy result in rejection.
Perhaps the FIA might have a rule about selling car finance to customers???

Im not sure but from memory we didn't check sales people credit file before employing them.
The finance was handled by our business manager who may have had to be checked,1 -

This is unlikely to be true. Apply anyway.SAPman said:I was told by someone that you can’t get a cars sales job because of the bankruptcy record.I'd agree. It's down to the company's own policies, of course, but a discharged bankruptcy would be unlikely to be an issue in this situation (you can't be a company director if you're currently bankrupt, but that's a different scenario entirely).A credit check is pretty much standard practice for any job involving finance. What they're really looking for is to see if you've got massive debts - the theory being that if you're in a lot of debt you're likely to be more open to bribery.
