Golf - gear selector lever replacement?
I own a 2020 Golf eTS and there's been a light coming up on the dashboard recently.
The mechanic says it's a gear selector lever issue and the unit needs replacing.
In fairness this is in London but they are saying the unit is £335 and labour is £420.
Does this sound right? It's a new car (second hand but only one previous owner). Why would a unit need replacing this early on?

There's a problem with a switch inside the selector mechanism, within the VAG world it's quite a well known issue.
There are at least 5 different part numbers for the part, each replacing the last.
Make what you will of that!
There might have been a recall for it or at least an acknowledgement of the issue.
Try ringing VW CS and see what they say. If it's been kept in the dealer network for servicing, you might get some help with the bill.

Same issue with other VAG products.

There's a "fix" guide attached to the first post, it's in Russian but the poster has translated it in his post.0 -
It's not a "new" car. It's a 4yo car. If it was new, the manufacturer's warranty would likely cover it.0

Thanks apologies it's actually a 3 year old car but just outside warranty now.Mildly_Miffed said:It's not a "new" car. It's a 4yo car. If it was new, the manufacturer's warranty would likely cover it.0
