It's been a wild night, and not in a teenager on the lash sense. Instead the rain and wind have been hammering down without any respite. Could be going all day.I had to go out yesterday to collect the flowers and card, only walked about 50 yards from the car to the shop and got drenched. Once back in the car I soon got a wet bum as my coat rode up which let the water run down onto the seat. It's been years since I was out in such horrendous weather. Anyway, I did my duty, delivered the flowers and went straight home. The postie had been and left a parcel from friends in Newcastle and a bottle of Baileys which I'd ordered. I haven't opened either!Tonight I have my only Christmas do to attend. Let's hope that the rain has stopped, it's difficult enough to drive in the pitch dark without any added hazards. I hope that everyone is safe, warm and managing well. The chaos will soon be over. Hugs to our poorlies and those who are sad.13

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's raining here, don't know if it's set for the day.
I've got an eye appointment today at 9.30. The Eye Hospital is a few miles away so we'll probably set off at about 8.30 as it's a busy time of day.
Dh had his MRI yesterday, the experience wasn't as bad as he feared. He'd had one years ago and it was awful, but the modern equipment they've got now made it much better.
Next appt for him is a CT scan tomorrow.
That's the end of the medical bulletin for today!
I must ice my Christmas cake, I've got a bit behindhand because of everything else going on. Might get that done this afternoon.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - take care folks.14 -
PS - for those in the NE there's a beautiful huge red bauble installation in Seaton Delaval Hall which looks fabulous. On similar lines as the Gloucester cathedral one it's a great use of an empty space. Wish I were nearer.@Scarlet - it's good to hear that your OH found the MRI bearable. Good luck with the CT.12

Morning allIt's wet and very blustery out there this morning.Nothing going on today apart from a bit of hoovering and mopping. BBC2 are putting on some lovely old films/musicals in the afternoons at the moment so might give that a go later. Apart from that I'm making a list of what to take as I'm menagerie sitting for my son and his partner for a few days from tomorrow as they're going to a Christmas market in Prague.Stay warm and safe everyone x12

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x Enjoy the Christmas ‘do’ later and stay safe.Glad to hear DH’s MRI went okay and hope the CT scan goes okay @ScarletRibbons x
Good to see you posting @TravellingAbuela - sending you healing vibes.Life has been a bit busy the last few days. DSis and I ran a fundraising stall on Saturday then I helped Mum at her last craft fair of the year on Sunday PLUS attended a book tour event with Patrick Grant in the evening. Just life admin since then which has included wrapping a fair few gifts (we still buy for EVERYONE but that needs to stop now I think).SIL is still in hospital and wants to come home but expect they need her weight to be more reasonable before that happens. Won’t be this side of Christmas. We are getting the final gifts today 🤞🏻 and then it’s just the food(!) but that can wait until the weekend/Monday.Hugs to those missing loved ones ❤️Coxy xCross-stitch WIP: HSC Jingle Bells Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 05/25 Currently reading The last letter from your lover by Jojo Moyes14 -
Morning all
thanks for the start Gers - hope you can enjoy your Christmas’do’.Scarlet - hope DH’s scan goes ok too - it’s a tiring and worrying time for you both - do take care
Cosy - oooo Patrick Grant - much envy!
It’s wild here - wasn’t prepared for the high winds, must have missed that forecast. Had a huge outside job planned but that’ll have to wait. Maybe some soup making instead - leek and potato I think.Part time job declutterred until 13 January but lots of tidying and planning needed for the craft business. Trying not to let my head get overwhelmed with all I think I want to do.
take care all

Morning all. I can hear it's raining outside.
It was a good night at Carols in the pub last night. I didn't play too many wrong notes (I was the only musician!) and the whole pub sang along. Being low carb I do hate it when the only food they offer is sandwiches with chips though!
Today we are awaiting the BT engineer to put us onto full fibre. They posted us a package on Saturday so I guess it means a new router and whatever else. So long as it works with no problems I don't mind what they do.
Off to help at the Larder today and then we are closed for the next two weeks because of the bank holidays.
Keep warm and dry everyone.12 -
Morning all
Wet and wild here too and it feels colder this morning, I am off to collect Rob but we are not going to his work today as all they are doing is cleaning so we will pick mum up and then go and pick up the xmas meat my mum has been saying we should get it since September so I hope there is some left 😬 then we will have some lunch out and pick up a few bits in Lidl for this week, mum and I will then go shopping another day for all the Christmas bits, we may go on Monday.
Dinner tonight will be curry and rice the curry is made and will just need heating and then cook some rice nice and easy.
The party went really well yesterday there was plenty of food and everyone went home full and happy we exchanged gifts and watched some Christmas films and played a couple of silly games Rob really enjoyed it at one point he was dozing off but his eyes kept peeping open and looking at the tree and his friends and then dozing off again, I’m afraid his Christmas at home is nothing like a traditional one so I like to think this was his Christmas.
Scarlett glad all went well I hope the scan goes well tomorrow xxx
Coxy I hope your SIL continues to improve xx
TA big hugs xxx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all, lovely walk around the Ramsgate harbour lights last night
very windy down here on the Kent coast this morning
a bit of tidy up to do but not much else planned
Was Patrick Grant interesting @Coxy11? Annoyingly I couldn’t make either recent Kent dates he did. I really enjoyed his book

Good morning, just getting light but can hear it's very windy.
Yesterday's shopping trip turned out to be more than just popping out as OH wanted to go to Home Bargains which is in the next town. I really wasn't looking forward to it but was pleasantly surprised as the car park was half empty, and this was at midday. So, kindling and firelighters purchased. I popped into A*di which was also quiet, but was amazed at the selection of Christmas treats. I bet there will be a lot reduced after. I got big dog a box of doggy treats, can't leave him out.
Today will be making a steak and kidney pie for dinner. Not much else happening but I'm sure I'll find something to do.
Have a good day all, love and hugs11
