Good morning all TA, good to see you back, you have been missed. Sending healing vibes to you.
I will keep this short as there's enough sadness atm. The prognosis for DDs MiL is not good and needless to say it will not be a happy Christmas for them.
May pop to the shops this morning, I'm up and at them, have cleaned the bathroom already
Scarlet, hope all goes well today for your OH.
SO, YL and Mehefin, thinking of you. I hope your happy memories help you through.
Hugs to all who need them, everyone else enjoy your day. Hope the party goes well Ruby x

Morning all.
Lovely to see you back TA. I was imagining you tucked up in a hospital bed with a bad chest but at least you've got some antibiotics to help sort it out. Here's hoping you make a full recovery, although it might take longer than you like.
We're off to another small town this morning so that DH can look at some shirts. We might stop there and have coffee then I have a dental check up soon after lunch.
Yesterday I made 2 more lots of Florentines. The first batch I cooked as instructed and then I couldn't get them out of the tin, even though I'd greased them well with melted butter, as instructed. The rest I then cooked in clumps on a baking tray but they spread far more than I was expecting. I currently have 12 reasonable ones, to which I've added chocolate on the back and they have been tucked away for an event on Thursday evening. DH had to soak the bottom of my tin in boiling water to release the first batch so I won't be cooking those again! I have made sure they are GF so everyone can eat them so I hope they don't soften up too much by Thursday.
Best wishes to everyone and get well soon all you poorly people.10 -

Morning all, thanks Gers,I'm waiting for my grocery delivery, giving Morries another go as they emailed some vouchers. We had our leftover curry for tea last night, will pick something from todays shop for later.FlorayG, hi. It tends to be the same people who post about their day- not always, we are always looking for ne w people to welcome. We write about the money saving aspects of our day, be it vouchers, meals cooked etc. usually but also waffle on about random things as the mood takes usTA glad to see you back but hope you feel much better soon.Seems dry here, not too cold. I'll wish you all a good day.

Morning! Lovely and cold [ yuk] and not raining which is a complete bonusTA, glad to hear you're getting some anti's down you to help, fingers crossed they work quickly. Sue, it's rubbish isn't it? I'm still sneezing and blowing my nose now and it' been two months. FLoray, you don't have to join, you can post when you like, there's a new one every dayGoing to be looking for how to clean a pillowcase back to white in a bit, I have the door edge to wax, the top door stop to cut, wax and pin, some things to deliver and I have to find two small wreath things. OHs mum puts them on graves every Chrsitmas but she can't find any thing year, she likes them to be natural because the deer eat them afterwards, so I said why don't we make them, I have holly, fir bits, there's ivy across the street and bay and rosemary in the garden. I do keep giving mysef work. I was also hoping to start on the ROD again, I had to sort some of it out to get to the Christmas decorations, but there's always room for improvement
as Rosy said, daily lives, sometimes hints and tips...WL, tried the Delia recipe? It looks fairly simple..and I just thought, they'd be really nice with pumkin seeds for extra crunch
Gers, I can just imagine you with kettlebells as big as yourself humping them around! Scarlet, hope it goes quickly for him, I'm no help, I just fall asleep the minute I lie down. Ruby, have a good party today, sounds lovely! NRA, glad he's been transferred nearer to his home, shame about the stra miles on the trip to see him though. Carol, that looks like it'll be lovely, lots of photos! Take care all, hot chocolate and nibbles today!

Morning all, it's dark damp and dreary here.
I took Dad's shopping up to him, checked into his fridge wearing my hazmat suit and threw out several dodgy items including 3 crumpets(?) which were all totally green 🤮 I found a tin of something (food) leaking in an upstairs cupboard that needed a toxic waste sticker on it ! He had already had a scam phone call from our council apparently which then rang again and turned out to be the dietitian team. Luckily Mr Fix It took over the call as Dad had selective hearing spasm. Upshot is they will ring us tomorrow. I'm glad as Dad will give the performance of his life and we're really worried about him, he's only 9 st now and very frail. Sorry to hijack the thread so feel free to skip.
I have a few things to do today before we pick DGD up from school and bring here here for tea. The jungle drums have spoken that I'm doing a roast chicken dinner and now DGS is coming after his school trip too, he can smell my roast potatoes at 100 paces. DD was collecting them so I asked her come earlier and join us too.
TA I'm so glad you're still on here with us and I hope you get better very soon. Tuck yourself up on the sofa with plenty of hot drinks and just rest as I'm sure you will. I shall be sending you healing thoughts.
Mehefin good news about the old mince pies.
Scarlet I dreaded my MRI but I sailed through it. I think I may have had something injected though as I couldn't walk afterwards, my legs were so wobbly. Good luck to MrS.
Hugs to anyone in need, the poorly ones and anyone missing their loved ones.
Florya G it's as Rosy says, come and join us.
Take care all, enjoy your day if you can

Hi everyone,
I'm on childcare duty again today. I took Esben to the Dr yesterday and was given antibiotics to use if he goes downhill. After a quiet day he seems better so hopefully he'll escape the dreaded tonsillitis this time. It's a real family failing, I had mine out at eleven and Laura when she was seven. Esther is a lot better as well.
Steve has gone to play in a golf competition so he'll be late back.
I am trying to write lists of what needs to be done - far too much still. I shall try to marzipan the cake today. It needs to be finished by Friday..
TA, I hope you recover quickly now.
Mehefin, good news about the eyes. I'm sorry you're son isn't coming for Christmas.
Nanny, I'm sorry you have such a worry about your dad on top of everything else.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning all, I'm late to the party today as I overslept for the first time in I don't know how long. I must have needed it. As usual, it's grey and dull, but still relatively mild for the time of year. Not long to go before we start to get a few more minutes of daylight each day.
Good to hear from you @TA, we were all worried about you. Hopefully the antibiotics will soon do their job but, in the meantime, rest up with plenty of fluids.
@dp1 - Your LO does make me laugh and good thinking on your part about the "rest time" on The List.
@nannywindow - Oh dear, more exploits from Dad. Don't worry, you're not hijacking the thread - we all need to vent sometimes. Love the hazmat suit/toxic waste sticker thoughts. You sound to be keeping a sense of humour through it all but yes, it is worrying.
Hi to @FlorayG - As others have said, it's just general chit chat about anything and everything. Feel free to pop in whenever you want.
Sainsbugs delivery later today, all P &C, no subs.Leather cleaner is on its way, maybe today or tomorrow. I'd like to get the sofa done before Xmas but it can wait if need be.
News flash - I now have a lodger since DS arrived home yesterday with bags of clothes and other possessions; in short, the relationship between him and his partner has been rocky for a good while and it's finally come to an end. (I was expecting it so not a total surprise.) Tea and a sympathetic ear are the order of the day for now and, whilst I'm more than happy to have him here, I'll not be offering advice or taking sides. So, Xmas Day will be spent chez nous but that does mean we'll have to brave the SM on Friday or Saturday. Something I was hoping to avoid.
Right, it's time to crack on - changing the curtains in the living room is today's job along with re-jigging the meal plan to cater for The Lodger.
Take care all, enjoy your day if you can. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10
