Post Office debited not credited account

WelshGlyndwr

I went to the post office counter today and put £250 in my bank account. Later in the evening i realised the post office had taken the £250 out instead of crediting it to my account. What am i supposed to do? The clerk counted the money in front of me? and gave me the receipt but i've lost it. I checked my app after the transaction to see the £250 but didn't realise it had been debited not credited!

Did you get a receipt for the transaction?
If so just go back in with that and they should also be able to check the CCTV.Saving for Christmas 2025 - £312/£7301 -

Without the receipt for the transaction. The Post Office will need to review the audit trail and possibly the CCTV. To ascertain that the events were as you describe. If the Post Office conducts a daily end of day till reconcilation Such a discrepancy would immediately come to light.0
