Hargreaves Lansdown price improvement.

"We beat the market price on 94%* of the deals our clients place. Just another reason why we’re the UK’s number 1 retail stockbroker."

Last month we saved you £*** on your share trades thanks to HL's price improvement.

How does it work?

1

When you buy or sell shares, you’ll see the market price.

2

We then find quotes from multiple brokers to try and beat it – getting you the best price we can for your deal, all in a split second.

Does it work, I guess you Freetrade guys will say no?

    94%*

    What does the asterisk say?

    Reminds me of those

"now with extra pro-retinol, 77%* of customers agreed it was better"

All it means is that you usually trade inside the bid/offer spread and, yes, Freetrade also usually trades within the spread. It's almost as if they all use the exact same market makers...

II does this too, and will tell you if they have secured a few pennies off the deal, or a couple of pounds.

It's nothing new; in 1999 Barclays was boasting about its, "price improver software" and still does. I'm not convinced it's anything special, all the brokers I've used trade within the spread almost all of the time.

"Low charges are fine, but only if you get the right price for your shares. We use price improver software, which is a sort of price radar which helps us to get a better price than the initial market-maker's quote in about half of all cases."
