New add on charges from Aviva

Hi, just having to change from UK insurance to Aviva for the Flex account insurance offer and have found some excessive charges for extended trips. Instead of one annual payment for extending the days throughout the year, circa £70 , Aviva now do it on a trip by trip basis on an almost single trip premium. They now want a £154 premium for a 6-week trip to Asia and £395 for a 9-week trip to the USA which we do twice a year. That’s on top of the £18/monthly premium. I’m presuming Nationwide have sanctioned these charges being applied through their insurance provider, so I’m also presuming they realize that anyone wanting trip extensions will close their accounts and get a realistic premium elsewhere…please beware if you have renewed and are likely to ask for any trip extension through Aviva.

It'll work both ways, they'll lose some customers who dont like the change and some others will now consider Nationwide if they think Aviva is ok but dont like UK Insurance (aka Direct Line).
These sorts of relationships can be very simple, the white label just pays £X per policy and the insurer is free to act how they want and others are much closer with profit shares, the white label being involved in the details both in management and day to day operations.0 -

Indeed - being out of the country for 24 of 52 weeks is unlikely to be covered by any travel insurance policy without an extra premium

The move to Aviva save me money on the pre-existing condition supplement I have to pay. I don't spend over 100 days a year overseas on holiday though.
