Faulty Car

My son in law bought a second hand Audi A3 from the car shop on finance in May.
The car only had 22,000 and is now just over 3 years old. Last week the car engine seized and has been recovered to a local garage. The car needs a new engine. How is this possible?
The carshop say it's out of 6 month warranty. Audi don't want to know. The finance company say unless we can prove the car was faulty when purchased there's nothing we can do.
Does anyone have any advice please

Independent report as over 6 months old for any sort of result.
Has car been serviced in line with Audi schedule?
How often has things like oil etc been checked?Life in the slow lane0 -
You'll have to ascertain why the engine has failed and as the finance company say prove a pre-existing condition to get any redress from them or Audi.
It's going to be a fight with a car that old.
