£170 debt recovery letter - not paying it

Hi...I am so sorry if I should have understood what I am supposed to do with all the other threads...I did read them. But I think I should just pay now as I did not have a valid ticket when I should have.
I thought I had paid for parking on the day in question. But I was actually unwell and when I checked on receipt of the first fine letter, my app payment hadn't gone through. My mistake. I remember getting my phone out and doing it, but the app often crashed and I might have thought I'd do it in a min, as I often have to. But clearly didn't.
A friend said ignore the letters. I don't have to do anything. They have no standing to do anything. So I did. I no longer have the first 2 letters for reference.
I now have £170 debt recovery letter. From dcbl on behalf of Total parking solutions.
Rather than fight something I will lose. Think I should just cough up??
Again apologies for not knowing the answer from all your helpful guidance threads

Your thought process is wrong
Why assume you will lose
No you don't pay.1 -
If you had a problem paying with an app do NOT pay, it is a scam and, if they arre daft enough to take this ro court they very likely come a cropper. Judges frown on DCAs askin for an additional £70..You never know how far you can go until you go too far.1

Ok thank you. Now to use the thread to work out what to do. Finding it all quite confusing0

Thanks.
I've just added some boring (same old, same old) letter £170 threatogram pictures to the fourth post of the NEWBIES thread, in an attempt to stop threads like this.
It IS NOT confusing.
Please go and look.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It is confusing - there is SO much information all very technical about letters for various situations, when to do something or not. I was not clear so sought advice. Which is what this forum is for yes? The others have been super helpful. I am grateful for your input, but please don't be so condecending. If there are lots of people posting because they are confused. Then perhaps consider for people new here....it is.

Yes, but my question was regarding not having paid for a valid ticket. Therefore actually that I should cough up. Please.
And I have no idea how to change the title.0 -

And I have no idea how to change the title. But you said:"I thought I had paid for parking on the day in question....... I remember getting my phone out and doing it, but the app often crashed"So how is it your fault if the technology set up to pay is faulty? Also I can absolutely guarantee that no letter you have received says anything about a "fine letter", you received a speculative invoice nothing more. You don't not have a debt so why would you consider paying a toothless debt collector on a no win no fee contract. You also said:"I did not have a valid ticket when I should have".How exactly can you get one of those from a phone app?Do you not realise that the failings in the system are exactly what the third party parking company want, it makes them money it's what they salivate over, you are in scammers clutches, and they love the fact that the stupid protracted system they are wading in looks like hard work it wears victims down!Forget the stupid scam appeal set up it's a con, you don't get a two stage appeal for an invoice from a plumber when he tries to charge you extra when he forgets to bring his tool kit do you?
