Carers allowance payment

I have been claiming carers allowance for someone for a while however she was going to go into residential care in Dec so I stopped my claim on 30th November. Before I received my last carers allowance payment (which I expect to be lower due to only claiming for 2 weeks), plans changed and I was asked to continue being a carer. I rang the office that deals with carers allowance to ask whether I can stop the cancellation of the old claim or should I just start a new claim and they said to just submit a new claim which I did. As far as I know the new claim is still being processed. However I received a carers allowance payment today for £335, which is slightly more than a full month. I'm confused. Does this mean the old claim has just been continued?
