And we’re looking for a whole new line up.

Did you play in a band in your younger years? Well, your time in the spotlight has arrived. The Dave Berry Breakfast Show presents…

Dust off that drum kit, bring the bass back down from the loft, restring your Rickenbacker and grab your Gibson - it’s time to form the ultimate band!

To be part of the band submit your audition submission by sending us an audition video below. Tell us which role you’d like in the band: Drummer, Bass Guitarist, Rhythm Section, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals, Additional parts (keys, strings, horns).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS for “ABSOLUTE RADIO – ‘BAND OF MUM AND DAD’ WITH WICKES X THE DAVE BERRY BREAKFAST SHOW” (the “Competition”).

 

These terms and conditions (the “Specific Terms”) for the Competition should be read alongside our general competition terms and conditions at: http://www.bauerlegal.co.uk/radio-competition-terms.html (the “General Terms”) which will also apply to this Competition. Where there is any conflict between these Specific Terms and the General Terms, the Specific Terms shall prevail.

 

 

1.ENTRY ROUTES AND COSTS

Entries are restricted to one (1) per person (“Entrant”).

 

Entry to the Competition is available via the following routes:

Online entry is free of charge.

 

2.COMPETITION MECHANIC AND HOW TO WIN

In order to be eligible to win, entrants must enter through the online form as stated in Section 1. ENTRY ROUTES AND COSTS with the following details: 

 

1. Full name and contact details
2. Instrument that you play – e.g. Voice, Guitar, Drums
3. A video clip of you performing the instrument stated in point 2. You must add in a URL to a relevant performance via the following platforms only: YouTube.com, Vimeo.com, Tiktok.com. All other platforms will not be considered. Failure to provide a video clip, or a clip not on the listed platform will result in your entry not being considered.

 

All valid entries will be pooled, and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges (Judging Panel) which includes an independent judge. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

 

-         The instrument they play

-         Best entertainment value

-         Personality

-         Skill at performing

-         Creativity

 

No single attribute has more importance in the final decision on winning the competition. The judging panel will consist of the Dave Berry production team, the production managers, and an independent judge. The Judging panel’s decision is final.

 

On shortlisting, we will require the entrant to take part in a “team call” with the members of the judging[GE1] panel. Being called during the entry period does not mean that the entrant has won, and they will only win on being told they are the winner* by the production team on-air.

 

Please note: There may be more than one “call” to determine winners. Calls can be made but not limited to platforms such as Microsoft Teams, over the phone or, through other electronic communication methods. It is at the decertation of the judging panel on how many calls there might be.

 

*A winner is distinguished as being placed as a member of Dave Berry’s Band of Mum and Dad with Wickes[GE2] .

 

Please note: All entrants need to be available between 10:00 AM on 27th February to the full day of 28th February 2025 to partake in rehearsals & a video recording. Exact dates will be communicated.

 

3. ENTRY PERIOD

Entries must be submitted during the following entry period:

 

Online Pre-registration: From 00:01 AM 16/12/2024 (the “Start Time”) to 11:00 AM 07/02/2025 (“End Time”).

 

On-air Competition: From 13/01/2025 – 07/02/2025 each morning a finalist will be brought to air during the Dave Berry Breakfast Show between 06:00 – 10:00. The on-air finalists will be given information of when the exact date timings will be ahead of being brought to air.

 

Entries received before the Start Time or after the End Time will be invalid.

 

Winner Announcement.

The winner announcements will take place during the ‘On-air Competition’ on Absolute Radio’s ‘The Dave Berry Breakfast Show’.

 

Performance Dates:

Thursday 27th February – Friday 28th February 2025.

4. ENTRY RESTRICTIONS

·      Open to UK residents aged 18 years or over on date of entry.

·      One entry per person.

• Our employees (and their family members) or employees of any company involved in the Competition, including any Prize Provider, are not permitted to enter.
• If you or any other person at your household has won a prize valued at £500 or more on any Bauer brand in the past 6 months, you nor they are not eligible to enter or win this competition. The full list of Bauer Media brands can be found here: https://www.bauermedia.co.uk/brands 

5. THE PRIZE

The prize for this competition is as follows:

To be included in The Absolute Radio ‘Band of Mum and Dad’ with Wickes (The Band*). The band will then play an exclusive session hosted at The Lantern, 75 Hampstead Road, London, NW1 2PL - Home of Absolute Radio, in their Rayo production[GE3] room on either

 

The Absolute Radio production team will provide you with travel (up to £100 per person) plus hotel accommodation in the Euston, London area at a chosen hotel. Dinner on 27th February and breakfast on 28th February will also be provided.

Additional Details

Please note: there is no maximum or minimum limit of winners for this competition. The judging panel – stated in section 2. COMPETITION MECHANIC AND HOW TO WIN – have full authority to pick as many or as few winners to be a part of the band. The band may consistent of any instrument[GE4] that the judging panel wish to have. This includes multiple of the same instrument.

Band members may bring their own instruments, thought this is not necessary as they can be provided for use on the day.

Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and no alternative (including a cash prize) will be offered.

At any point and at the discretion of the Absolute radio production team, a winner may be dismissed and asked to leave this activity if they misbehave, deemed abusive or are uncooperative during this activity.

Absolute Radio have the right to exempt anyone from this activity.

 

OTHER CONDITIONS

 

1.             DATA PROTECTION. Names, email addresses, and /or telephone numbers (which, for all SMS competitions, will be shared with our SMS provider) will be collected and used to process entries. Winner’s details may be given to a Prize Provider to arrange delivery of the prize. Your details may remain stored after the End Date but will not be used for marketing unless you have ticked an opt-in box on entry. For SMS entries you automatically consent to receive marketing. You may opt out at any time by texting the word STOP to the relevant text shortcode number. If you have opted in to receive marketing communications, then your details will be used in accordance with the information given when you ticked the opt-in box and gave your consent. 2.           INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONSENTS. By entering this Competition, you are consenting to our use of your entry both to publicise this Competition, our radio station or any other radio station which we own or control. This means that we may use all names, images, descriptions, photographs video footage, and other information, which you have submitted on entry, in any media, without paying you any remuneration therefore and without any time restriction. You also agree that we may film, record or photograph you in connection with the competition and /or the Prize if applicable. We will own these films, recordings or photographs and we may use them publicly, including on the internet, for our radio broadcasts and/or for any promotional purposes. You will also have waived any moral rights or right to payment that you may have had.

 

3.           MISCELLANEOUS.

 

• Entries which do not comply with these Terms or the General Competition Terms and Conditions will not be accepted and any entries may be disqualified if we have any reason to suspect that there is a breach of, or non-compliance with, these Terms.
• Where a competition mechanic involves the answering of questions, the correct answers to questions must match our answers to win (or be sufficiently close in our sole reasonable opinion) to be acceptable. In the event of any dispute about any answers given and whether they are correct, we reserve the right to amend what we deem a correct answer, however we are not obliged to, and our decision in either case is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• We are not responsible if you fail to get through when you call / text to enter, or if you lose signal during a call.
• You are responsible for all costs of entry and where necessary, obtaining the bill payer’s permission. Please refer to your tariff with your network provider for information about charges you may incur for entry into our competitions via any SMS or phone call entry route.
• We accept no liability for network, technical or signal errors, issues or failures experienced by entrants when entering the competition or at any stage during the mechanic of the competition.
• Whilst on-air, you must not make any inappropriate, profane, indecent, harmful or offensive statements. If you do so we reserve the right to take you off-air immediately and disqualify you from the competition. You may be also disqualified from the competition at any time if you are incomprehensible, inaudible or if you appear to be driving, intoxicated or likely to offend listeners. Any prize already won may be withdrawn and re-awarded to another entrant.
• As far as it is lawful to do so we exclude our liability for any losses suffered in connection with the Competition or any element of the Prize.

 

We may cancel, end or suspend the Competition where we are required to do so in circumstances outside our control. We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any stage during the Competition if such amendment is necessary to facilitate the administration of the Competition.
