Yesterday was far too wet and windy to venture outside, so I didn't. Instead, I did SFA apart from making a big pot of soup. Oh, I dug out my beloved grandmother's final Christmas card to us from 1966 and my uncle's from 2003 which are now on the mantelpiece as is traditional.Today I have my exercise class in the next village so I'll brave the blustery weather. Nothing else planned, I try to avoid Christmasy stuff as it's not my favourite time of the year.Hugs to all, keep safe and warm.10

Hi Gers and all who follow,
I thought I'd better post early because today will not be child free. Esben has had a high temperature again so his tonsillitis is almost certainly back and Esther has been in pain a lot of the weekend. I was hoping to wrap the presents today but plans have been foiled.
Chicken stir fry for dinner tonight and that's about the extent of my plans now.
Have a good day.11 -
Good morning all

Will go and buy some wool this morning so I have something to do.
Hope we hear from TA and she's okay.

Not raining here but not sunny either temps have risen a bit which is nice, only Rob coming today as the other lady is poorly, we are going to meet out friends for a bit of lunch and then do some shopping for our party tomorrow there will be 8 of us and everyone is bringing something so the expense is shared.
Dinner tonight will be chicken and mushroom risotto with some tender stem broccoli. I have put a wash on this morning and will hang it up before we go out I need to run the hoover over as well.
Mehefin sorry to hear you are feeling down it’s completely understandable though it’s still early days sending big hugs xxx

Morning! Bit nippy this morning but I'm off to Costco in a bit with OHs mum for some beer, and some other bits and pieces. The tree is up and twinkling away [ I opened the new - old really, it came from Wilko's - set of 600 lights so it's definitely twinkling away, it's more light than tree
], what it lacks in height in makes up for in girth
I broke my spade at the allotment yesterday trying to help someone dig a piece of metal out so I have to go to the local hardware store and get two handles [ the one on the shovel broke too] to repair them over the next couple of weeks. The shed base is arriving today not tomorrow [ after I rearranged with OHs mum to suit] so lets hope they can stick the stuff round the back. I cooked chicken last night in herbs and yoghurt so we'll have flatbreads tonight, there are some roasted peppers and onions in the freezer so I just have to make the flatbreads. And that should be all for today [ except the three or four loads of washing]
Gers, hope you can avoid Christmas successfully
Allie, happy long break, it's nice to get away for a while if you can although the going back becomes harder
I used to take a bout three weeks off usually over Christmas and the New Year, hated going back though. Chris, happy dessert hunting. Carol, a ukelele concert sounds intriguing. I only ever remember George Formby when I think about ukeleles, which admittedly is hardly ever. snoozer, the best laid plans and all that
SO, good luck in your wool hunt! Izzy, all that sounds fab expecially the brass band, it really is a lovely sound, shivers up the back of the neck typ stuff [ and probably a bit of crying from me too] Ruby, glad Rob is back with you, have a lovely day
Take care all, it's still cold, so wrap up!

Morning all. Bright here so far and a bit milder.
Well, I now remember why I don't make Florentines! They are basically a thin caramel with added nuts, fruit and peel. Admittedly I used an old recipe from the 1970's yesterday but ovens must be hotter nowadays(!) so they overcooked plus they all spread and merged into one. I didn't bother putting chocolate on the back, as they were still extremely tasty and very mooreish, but I had been hoping to make the same for friends on Thursday and now I'll have to try a different recipe. I've saved one on FB, from a lady who's Tiffin recipe works extremely well so I hope it's the same for her Florentines.
Other than that I've made a list for Lidl and will be off there in a while. DH is out for a pub lunch with a couple of his friends so I'll be just feeding myself today.
I hope everyone keeps warm and dry today. The kettle's now on for more tea10
