Combi boiler bypass valve fitting cost

Options
Hi
we have been advised to get a bypass valve fitted to our combi boiler system to improve boilers efficiency and life.
How much would this cost in total -part supplied and fitted?

Comments

  • Since it's a combi, with the pump presumably inside the boiler itself, then the new (auto) by-pass would just span across the flow and return pipes underneath, so a doddle to fit.
The part itself is very cheap - less than £10 - and additional bits - a couple of tees, a wee bit of pipe - not much more.
This should be an easy task provided access is good, I'd imagine in most cases considered a one-hour jobbie if no complications.
If you call a couple of plumbers, give them the make and model of the boiler, describe the pipe layout underneath (is it nicely open and visible?), they should be able to give you ballpark figures.
Things that could drag this out could be if the boiler is in the kitchen, and pipe access not so good.
    I think.

System drain down, refill, add corrosion inhibitor, bleed the system.. That little lot will add to the bill.
If you have a radiator or two without TRVs, they will already be acting as a bypass. A modern boiler will work best with the pump set to constant pressure (or constant head). And if the system is properly balanced (with the correct pump speed), you probably don't need a bypass valve.
