Good morning all, though it's not really good outside.

The trip yesterday was done in short order and I was back home in under two hours. The rest of the day was uneventful. Even the weather was flat. I went to bed to watch Strictly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though not necessarily the best dancer won (inevitably) the calibre of every one was so high. It was a fabulous show.Overnight the wind and rain have hammered round the house and are still going. It's not going to be a day for outside activity. The washing is all on the airer with the dehumidifier chugging away. I have no pressing plans for the day. 😀
I hope that everyone is doing at least OK.11 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, the weather is the same here with high winds due later.
I had the little one to stay on Friday night, she was good company as always and we had a great time with some Christmas crafts that turned into a shop for her Mum and Dad coming to pick her up. We had the usual risotto for dinner on Friday. it's a bit like TA and her pasta bake!
I had an optician appointment yesterday afternoon with the dreaded drops so walked there and back. There was a market on along the main street of our little town, it was actually quite nice. The Christmas lights were being switched on later as the council no longer do it.
Hoping the poorlies are feeling better and everyone has a peaceful Sunday, I'm off to see DS1 and family in Perth with DD and the little one.
Take care. XX10 -
Hi
Hope everyone survives the poor weather. Ok here at the moment.Off to see a friend about an hour drive away, she’s been in hospital since can’t drive here as she usually does most weeks.
Need to wrap some presents later but I did get my cards finished yesterday.
take care

Good morning Gers and all who follow.
Another dull and dark start to the day, although yesterday surprised us with some sunshine.
I slow roasted a leg of lamb yesterday so will slice that up and freeze ready for the big day. Then all OH has to do is the roasties and veg, as he insists on doing the cooking.
A message from my dd preparing me for sad news about her MiL. She is in a care home suffering with dementia, but has just been diagnosed with cancer. I'll know more later as she will ring me when dgd has returned to school.
Usual chores to do, have a good day everyone and hugs to all who need them.10 -
Morning all, wet and windy here. Bigdog doesn't like the wind when we're out across the road because the noise the trees make spooks her, like most things these days. The good news is she seems better from her recent infection, no wet bed(sorry tmi) in the morning and a big chunk of money paid out by the pet insurance. We are having a pork joint I got on offer a while back in Morries later, with the usual accompaniments.Yesterday morning DH managed to watch DGS at football.DS came for us, and he took his time on his crutches. He received a warm welcome back from our spectators group, and it cheered him up, especially as it was a win for usI wrote the last 2 CCards out for 2 more neighbours, and will hand deliver in a bit. I want to colour my hair today as well, but I think that's it apart from a bit more wrapping.Well wishes to the people under the weather or feeling sad.Time for another cuppa, DH isn't up yet, I think the walk took it out of him yesterday. Take care all

Morning all. A bit of sunshine here atm.
Yesterday's music went ok; it was in a sort of huge greenhouse that was hosting a craft fair. Luckily it wasn't cold but the acoustics were poor and the sound wasn't carrying, even between the musicians! Apparently it's an annual thing so, combined with an hour's drive each way, I might not go next year. The cheese toastie was good though.
Today I need to get food shopping and possibly make the florentines. I also have to make food for evening events on Wednesday and Thursday so will make a list later, although one of them is just a salad so that can be prepared on the day.
I also booked a couple of concerts last night; one for May and one for November. You have to book so far ahead these days. For the November one in Aylesbury I got the last two seats together that didn't have a restricted view. We were hoping to go with a large group of friends but that plan's been abandoned and we'll think of something else.
I do hope TA is ok. She wasn't well last week I remember so I hope she's just having a rest.
Have a peaceful Sunday folks

Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Another bad night, still awake at 3 am. Thought going for a walk in the evening to look at the Christmas lights might have helped but sadly it didn't.
Going to make lentil and bacon soup for lunch, can't remember who posted the recipe but it looks good.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.10 -

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white.† + ☆ * ☆ ☆ * ☆ + †
Morning all! There is some blue sky today, no idea how long that#ll last, but it's welcome for the moment. Plans have changed again, Costco tomorrow with OHs mum, allotment Tuesday, tiler Wednesday...I was hoping he would have been and gone by now because I wanted to move the fridge freezer out of the lviing room to make way for a tree. I'm fed up with waiting now [ sensing a theme here?] so the tree is going up today and tomorrow , which also gives me a reason to start tidying the ROD upstairs. We went to the Hellmouth yesterday and got some tile trim and some wood for me to put stops on the bathroom door. That's another job for next week. But the slabs are laid now, we've moved the shed bits so I can stop worrying about being out in the car and someone nicking it, and the plastic interlocking things are coming tomorrow or Tuesday.TA, hope you're just reading along...SO, hugs for you too..maybe some volunteering will help? I odn't know, it just seems like it will take you out and have some interaction with people...Rosy, good to hear he's up and about and feeling lovedAllie, I watched it all when OH went to play COD, and saw some more stuff I will watch too..thank you for that!
enjoy seeing your friend, hope it's not too serious for her...Gers, have a good day cuddled up indoors...camelot, at least you don't have to think what to cook
snoozer, hope you get a rest soon! Take care all, watch out for the cold, wrap up and twinkle

Morning all. After yesterday's welcome sunshine we're back to grey and dull, with gusty winds (calm so far) although it does feel much milder. Stay safe those of you being battered by the high winds and rain.
Yesterday I sliced up the gammon joint but needed to sharpen the knife first. This was always DH's job but I managed it OK and all fingers are still intact! There's an awful lot of meat there - good job I like it and it's versatile - so most of it has been portioned and frozen. I've saved the stock and will use some of that today for pea & ham soup. I've ordered more leather cleaner that should arrive later this coming week so the sofa cleaning is on hold until then. I did get to watch Strictly last night, after yet another re-tune of the TV, and the result was what I was expecting.
I've done a small grocery order for Tuesday but haven't gone overboard since (a) I don't need too much and (b) I'll be at DS's for Xmas Day. Anything I might have forgotten or run out of can be bought locally if need be.
I enjoyed an easy TV dinner last night of beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice followed by a sticky toffee sponge pudding. Today it's chicken in gravy courtesy of the freezer with veg, mini roasties and stuffing.
I think I'm going batty. I found two items that I could have sworn went in the CS bag but obviously not so they've started off a new bag. And I think I may have posted a card without a stamp. I had 5 cards to post and bought a book of 8 stamps so should have 3 left. No, there are 4.I wonder who the unlucky recipient will be?
Shame about the nail disaster @RedRuby, but at least your nail lady can fit you in before Xmas.
Those drops aren't pleasant are they, @camelot.
Sad news indeed @remmie.
Pleased to hear DH is managing on his crutches @Rosy.
Thanks for the carol @-taff. Sounds like a busy week for you, don't be overdoing it!
Sorry the Sleep Fairy eluded you @SO, maybe tonight?
Take care all, have a peaceful day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
