Non-amex cashback or rewards card that works with Apple Pay

I have started using apple pay more. I have an Amex Platinum cashback card which works with Apple pay, but many places don't accept amex. I also have a granfathered in 0.5% cashback capital one card, but this can't be added to apple pay. I'm looking for suggestions for what would be a good card for everyday spending that I can add to Apple Pay and has some rewards or incentive (ideally cashback). The only non-amex reward card on the article I think is Amazon Barclaycard but I understand this can't be used with Apple Pay.

Any suggestions?

  • A Chase debit card would give you 1% cashback on most spend up to £15 a month but does mean opening a Chase current account (not very arduous).

Only reward card I've needed apart from an Amex Nectar.

Barclaycard Rewards, but its only 0.25% cashback,
  • I use Chase for the 1% (£15 max per months).

Every rewards credit card currently available to new applicants supports Apple Pay, with the notable exception of the Barclaycard Amazon card. (The Barclaycard Avios card does support Apple Pay but doesn't yet support Google Pay, making that the only exception for Google Pay support).

    Top choices are
    • Barclaycard Avios card (1pt per £, autoconverts to Nectar at 1:1 giving an effective reward rate of 0.5%, no fees)
    • Santander Edge Mastercard (2% back in Y1, 1% back in Y2, £3/month fee, £15 max, requires Santander current account)

You can also look in to using Curve to use your Capital One card via Apple Pay.

I have the same Capital One card as the OP and have added it to Curve which can be used on Apple Pay. The only warning regarding this is that you will lose Section 75 protection when spending over £100 if using Curve.

However, this has been superseded by Chase 1% cashback on those occasions where Amex is not accepted.

I've also added Barclaycard Rewards to Apple Pay which offers 0.25% cashback, but only use this when abroad.
