Has anyone ever had a house rewire by a dedicated house wiring company?

I've often thought about getting our home rewired and found that their are some companies that exclusively do that work with quite a few guys on the job at the same time and it's a quicker job and cheaper.
Can anyone tell me if you have ever used one of these gangs and if it went ok,I'm thinking there must be some good ones out there.

I don't think there is any rule that says there must be some good ones out there! 

Done properly, a full-rewire is big, dirty job. It's best to put it off until there is a real reason to do so. If you have children and no RCDs in the consumer unit, then getting a new consumer unit would be sensible upgrade that will increase the safety of the electrical installation substantially. If you live on your own, then as long as you don't do anything stupid (like drilling through a wire when trying to hang a picture), you are unlikely to benefit from RCDs enough to make it worth changing your consumer unit.  You should specific a large consumer unit to give you the space for additional circuits to be installed when the house actually needs rewiring.

If you want to take it forward I would suggest speaking to a local builder who specialises in house renovation rather then new builds.  They are likely to have electricians who will have the depth of experience you require.
