My shopping hasn’t gone up since the rewards scheme when I take into account that I have £100 in rewards.Largs said:We are all paying more in there to pay for the rewards scheme. Since that came out the prices increased as far as I'm concerned.
I m also sick fed up looking online at asda.com and seeing an offer, visiting store and price is higher, when I ask they tell me online prices are different to stores.
A perfectly good supermarket that's now rubbish and more expensive.
online and instore offers have always been a thing as are location price differences.
Definitely not rubbish but if you want more expensive, try Sainsburys 😞😞I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. If we want the cheapeast available from all sources then you are potentially visiting 5 supermarkets. As much as I like a bargain I aint doing that.1

A particular waste of time as nothing is that inexpensive these days!!TheSpectator said:If we want the cheapeast available from all sources then you are potentially visiting 5 supermarkets. As much as I like a bargain I aint doing that.
Asda is not at all cheap but I do find it strange that people see chicken (and other meat) as a food source to be haggled over / purchased at minimal cost rather than as a life lost...No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
I can assure you I actually do look at Sainsburys prices, it’s my local shop. Online it’s on average £20 a week more if I chose Sainsburys.Mnoee said:
I was considering moving to Asda from Sainsbury's, but it doesn't seem good value for me. For basics like whole chickens, Sainsbury’s is cheaper per kilo, and their 'large' is the same size as Asda's 'XL'. Asda's cheap beef mince is fattier at 23% vs 20%, their extra lean 5% is more expensive, they both have four packs of mutti on offer at the same price... Obviously it'll depend on what you buy, but I keep seeing you badmouth Sainsbury's prices, and I urge you to actually have a look at them if you have that opinion based on old assumptions.sarah1972 said:

My friends teenage daughter works at Sainsburys and even with her 10% discount, my friend shops online at AsdaI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Asda is having financial problems and it has just axed a number of regional manager posts.
The reward scheme is now very mean indeed. There are no reward points to be had on anything remotely fresh, it's as if they want to kill us with ultra processed branded products. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Buy 5 fresh bakery items, get 50p
Cleaning one
Buy any 4 frozen items, get 50p
Star products, I have found are very rarely on fresh things sadly but I never look at them, I shop online as usual and if it happens to be a star product then great but if it isn’t it’s no biggie. My cashpot is £9 so far this month which is much more rewarding than I would get anywhere else.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Extra large free range chicken minimum 2.3 kg - Waitrose £6.79Graywisdom said:14 December 2024
Extra Large Chicken, British, Red Tractor - ALDI 2.19kg £5.19.
Extra Large Chicken, British, Red Tractor - ASDA 2.25kg £7.09.
QED!
Cheapest I can see is 1.6kg for £12.90 https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/no1-british-free-range-whole-chicken/981132-828845-828846
I think the £6.79 must be the price per kilo, because it is 20 years since I have seen a free range bird that cheap.
