Advice needed on deleting a second user profile on my pc?

Hello!

I would be grateful for any advice/ comments:

My flatmate has a profile on my pc, within which he has downloaded loads of software. He has now bought his own pc.

As I have a Livebox, I was thinking of somehow connecting his pc up to it(maybe wirelessly, maybe as a network, if I can figure out how to go about it!!!).

Firstly, how can he easily copy across all the contents of his profile currently on my pc onto his new pc?

Then, how do I go about totally deleting everything on his profile in order to clean up my pc?

I would prefer not to have to do anything which affects my profile or wipes any stuff from my profile, if possible.

Any comments gratefully received.

Thank you.

Scotty

  • What operating systems are on each of the PCs?
  • Hi Scotty, A happy new year to you !

Which version of windows are you running ?

If you have XP you should be able to use the files and settings transfer wizard.

It's accessible via the following route :

    Start>All Programs>System Tools>Files and settings transfer wizard>

To delete you'd be best off using the "user accounts" function under the control panel to remove the profile.

to be sure it's removed, you can manually delete the profile contents by locating the profile folder :

    My Computer>C:\(Hard Drive)>Documents and Settings>
right click on the folder which should have the profiles holders name

e.g. if you have a profile set up as "bob" find the "bob" folder in "Documents and Settings" and delete it (right click the folder and delete)

    Thanks

    Mike
