sky mobile sim

Hi my son has the above but i am not able to call the number as it goes to voice mail 
but if i call his what app account which as same number am able to  talk to him as days short and he goes to scholl and want make sure he is fine  his mother worries as well 

Any help would be nice

Whatsapp uses a completely different mechanism for making calls and the phone number is only used a way of doing a verification between the owner and their whatsapp ID. It talks over the mobile data side or wifi not over the voice network. So the two are not really related.

Is it just your phone not able to voice call the number, or can no one connect that way?

What model phone? Has the SIM worked previously and now does not, or is it a new one that you haven't used before? Can you try the SIM in another phone just to rule it out? Does the area your son receives your calls from from have good mobile reception (eg. outside in the open air vs. in a concrete basement)? Hi the issue as only started for the past 2 weeks as we all under sky mobile and me and have a Honr phone as mum has samasung and sky sim
will try what you said try sim in other phone

Possible the divert to voicemail has been set inadvertently?

Best to turn it off completely, perhaps?  If that's possible.  Son will need to do it from his phone.

WhatsApp will work over wifi as well as mobile data.  Some places have no coverage or are 'faraday cages' to radio signals from outside.  Unless the phone and $ky mobile support wifi calling when it should work?
