Pay off debt as soon as money comes in. At end of monthly period declare the amount of savings you have if over £6k.Life in the slow lane0

It's your capital capital at the end of your AP, so if capital is £17k your UC would end, if you paid off the debt and your capital in then under £6k you don't have to declare it (but nothing stopping you if you do want too).

You may want to consider making a note of what's happened in your journal, once you've paid off the debt.
This isn't based on any qualified experience mind you, just a gut feeling that when it's flagged up later that you had a lot of money hit your account then leave again, it's better that they already know about it instead of having to investigate and potentially stop your UC while they do so.0 -
As long as the debt your paying down/off is documented, things like credit cards, mortgage, commercial loans etc. there shouldn't be a problem. If you're repaying Joe from down the road it may be more problematic. As @Spoonie_Turtle said, let UC know what you've done and keep good records, it should help if at some point in the future any questions are raised.0
