It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap- happiest season of all† + ☆ * ☆ ☆ * ☆ + †
Morning! I got fed up waiting for the window guy to come back and install some trim so I did that yesterday. Today I'm going to have breakfast and head off to my happy place and do some more clearing. When I get back [hopefully with some extra weed fabric, I'll finish the slabs off in the window of no rain, and chop some of the holly tree down because my friends and I are making wreaths tomorrow and I'm providing the holly...OH is back in work today and he's on lates, so I'll have some of the brisket, gravy and veg tonight [ mmm, sprouts!! - if there's any left that is, because I snack on them during the day] I did make an unwelcome discovery though, none of my stainless steel trays will fit in the new cooker...which means I'd better ask for some for Christmas..and I have one or two cakes to put marzipan on, but that may be a job for tonight or tomorrow night
TA, you must be catching up on the rest, or hopefully you are..camelot, haven't they got any grit bins at your place? can you appropriate any? Ruby, that's quite sweet about Rob...Izzy, yes, put your feet up!
[yeah I know, pot etc] Are you adjusting ok to reitrement yet? I think it gets easier as it goes along, you find more and more to do ..Gers, I don't see why you can't have it in the summer, start a new tradition
dp1, that's lovely of them to think of her even when she's not there..hope everything goes well today..Yorkslass, just be nice to yourself, no one can be a rock all the time...Take care all, you heard me, drink hot chocolate and indulge because why not...

Good morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons x Pleased to hear that DH doesn’t have to wait long for his scans next week. Sending hugs x
I have a free day today. DH has gone to Mum’s to fix her garage roof, I’ve been for a run to clear my head and will get on with some tidying up/trimming up. I saw every hour on the clock last night. SIL weighs only 30kg which in old money is 4st 7lb with a BMI of 11. I have no idea how she is surviving but the hospital are tube feeding her as she still has delirium. All very sad and stressful at the same time.
Take care in the car park @camelot1001 “accident at work, not your fault” springs to mind…
Loved the crocodile spotting with Rob @RedRuby1231, and hope he enjoys the Christmas excitement today.
Oh @TravellingAbuela so sorry you are still under the weather. Rest up and take good care x
Hugs to @YorksLass – your DS sounds like a lovely lad, and the ring was a sweet gift x
Thanks for the song @-taff - annoying about the oven trays grrrrr!
Beef stroganoff for tea tonight mmmmm.
Have a good day all

Hello all, it's another very cold and grey day here. Yesterday I had a missed call from our surgery with no idea why but it took them 10 mins to answer their ringing phone for me to find out. Apparently there was a problem with my repeat meds but it was easily sorted. Dad also had another senior moment with his mobile phone which I had to sort out, I do worry about him but he still refuses any of my suggestions for help.
Sleep eluded me last night until 6 am so I feel shattered and a bit emotional, but I'm going try to keep myself awake during today. I'm now waiting for my last gift to arrive along with two lots of coffee, well the latter was on offer so it was an MSE purchase. They are supposed to come tomorrow but every time I have ordered lately it has been a day beforehand, so we'll see.
YorksLass you brought a tear to my eye, what a lovely thoughtful gift.
TA I do hope that cold goes by xmas so you can enjoy the day.
dp1 I hope little one enjoys her late xmas lunch.
taff another lovely song, thank you.
Coxy my goodness your SIL is so under weight, hope she gets through everything.
Gers xmas in summer ? now that's food for thought.
Hugs all round today.
Take care all

@Coxy - Your poor SiL, that's so sad. Yes, DS is a lovely lad with a kind heart and a gentle soul. Mind you, he's not perfect (who is?) and definitely not a Mummy's Boy!
@-taff - Yes, I'm being kind to myself, hence the treat of carnations the other day. I'm coping well with the big things, it's the little unexpected ones that knock me off my perch but that will get better with time. I read your comment wrong and thought it said "no-one can rock all the time" - do I still rock? Hopefully!
Oh no @nanny, please don't be sad on my behalf. So sorry to hear your Dad doesn't want to take up any of your suggestions but you know what they say about leading horses to water..... I've been there so know how you will be feeling.
The TD exercise is done - yay - and all cobwebs, dust bunnies, crumbs etc have been evicted. Now to tackle the second armchair. After that I'll be spending the evening doing not a lot!Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
YorksLass, what a lovely thing for him to do for you...You can rock as much as you like too, there's no limit

@Nanny, Yorkslasses comment about leading a horse to water did make me laugh, because I just imagined a new ending...you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, but you could push him in until he drinks or drownsOh and one of the above came true apart from me eating all the sprouts..OH cut down the tree, I started doing admin and have almost finished and have to go to the PO to post a few cards...Marzipanning is on the cards after!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Hello from Mehefinland
Been mia for the last few days but that's par for the course currently.
Gers - there used to be a little boy in our village whose b/day was Xmas day. So every year he would have a half birthday in the summer and more often than not all the Xmas decorations etc. too. It used to bring a smile to my face, and he didn't feel as if he was missing out.
I know how hard it is writing cards and just signing one name after such a long time, although, so far this year I have only had one to Mr and Mrs.
I hand delivered some cards this morning to my exSIL ( we still keep in touch) and my elder brother. I thought whilst out to pop into B&M for some bits and pieces. I failed totally, but seeing the queues at the checkouts I think I was glad in a way they didn't have what I was looking for! You would swear they were giving stuff away. Most of the shops seem to be the same!
DS and fiance are deigning to visit on Saturday so we are having afternoon tea at the local vineyard (apparently it is very good!) and they are staying overnight. Expect there will be some tense moments.
Hugs and spoons as always
