Afternoon,
It’s been a pretty quiet week this week with my main focus on surviving work, but there have been a couple of minor money-saving occasions:- Some more funds come in from DVD/CD/book-selling - just under £40 received so that will be just under £20 each for me and my uncle. There are some other bits of his that I can’t sell so I will see about taking them over to a charity shop in the coming weeks.
- Budget all prepared for the coming month - my budget month starts on the 25th as that is when my brother gets paid and transfers his half of the bills.
- Therapy session #2 done today.
I’m hoping for a relatively quiet weekend, hopefully with some more stuff leaving the house if at all possible, fingers crossed. There is plenty to do around the house so I’m fairly certain I can keep myself out of mischief with minimal outlay.

I’m back, and haven’t left it too long this time 😂😂
The weekend wasn’t too bad, I managed to sell some vinyls and a record player to a local second hand shop, took 4 boxes of stuff to the charity shop, took several boxes of my Mum’s stuff over to DB2s for my nieces to go through (they had a decent amount of that stuff as well 😁) and had a bbq over there as well. I still need to go through those boxes and then take most of the stuff to charity shop. Am so pleased that I managed to clear so much though.
I possibly may be selling some more items tonight (if the person turns up) through FB M@rketplace and then that’s almost all of my uncles stuff that I’ve been given to sell. I’m very thankful of that, it’s been tiring and stressful doing this. I’m intending to leave it at that now.
Work is busy and tiring at the moment so likely to mainly spend the rest of the week surviving that, then this weekend I’ve booked a tip run (as we have various small things that need to go up there) and will need to clear space in various places ready for the new boiler to be fitted next Wednesday and Thursday. Thankfully the fitters will remove and dispose of the old boiler, hot water cylinder, etc.B x

Another post-payday finances update.
Starting mortgage balance at 23/4/25 £120,999
Current balance £116,222.10
August daily interest £13.00
Interest rate 4.07%
Car finance £7,068.52 (5.7% interest)
New bed £1,021.73 (0% interest)
I was able to do small overpayments to the car finance and mortgage this month and am pleased that I’m not far off the daily interest on the mortgage being less than £13, car finance being under £7K and the bed finance being less than £1K.
Today and tomorrow our new boiler is being fitted, so a lot of upheaval but it should be well worth it. All of my uncle’s stuff is now either sold or taken to the charity shop, which I am very pleased about as it was all getting on my nerves.

Afternoon,
Just a quick check-in.
New boiler has been fitted now, together with thermostatic valves on all radiators, so I feel much more prepared for winter now. It’s still ridiculously hot at the moment though. However house is in disarray so my priority over the next few days is to get it back straight. I have Monday to Wednesday off work to get this done. Today DB3 is having a bbq for my niece’s birthday (her actual birthday is on the 20th but they are away then) so not a huge amount will be done today, although I do need to get a parcel posted.

Afternoon,
BBQ last week was very enjoyable and led to a cinema trip with DB1, DB3 and DB3s BFF the next day. Parcel has not yet been posted; as mentioned I was intending to do it last week but the person I’m sending it to is away on holiday so they asked me to hold off. I’ll aim to get it sent in the next couple of days. My three days off were nice as well, I spent much of the time chilling out, trying to keep cool and replenish some energy, and managed to do plenty of knitting in that time. House is pretty much straight although I still have some tidying up to do in my bedroom.
This weekend has been filled with plenty of knitting, some laundry, calling $ky to negotiate a new cheaper contract, a little bit of gardening (weeding, repotting) and plenty of reading through diaries on here.
During the coming week I need to:- Post parcel
- Make a couple of cards for upcoming birthdays and wedding anniversary
- Do a thorough finances review as money seems to be going faster than I can bring it in
- Tidy up my bedroom
- Tidy work desk (with view to clearing top of printer so I can start scanning physical photos)

Morning,
The last week and a bit has felt quite successful. As planned, I made cards for DN1’s birthday and DB3 and DSIL1’s wedding anniversary. I posted the parcel and, although I’d agreed with the recipient that they would just reimburse the postage, they gave me a bit extra on top, so that felt like a win. I’ve spent a lot of the last few days sorting through and organising the card-making stash that Mum had and it’s almost all organised and put in the right places. One more push with it and I should be sorted.I have today off work as it’s the 2nd anniversary of Mum’s passing so today will be a bit of a pottering about day, as I don’t want to put any pressure on myself. Anything achieved today is a bonus as far as I’m concerned.
DB1 was paid today so he’s sent over his portion of the bills. I get paid on Friday and am implementing a change to my usual budgeting system so will see how that works out. If it works, I’ll post about it at the end of September.
