Wise is quite a big, profitable company that's listed on the stockmarket (LSE:WISE) and easy to research. I'd be more comfortable with it than this unnamed competitor. Plus, with Wise you have the option to have your funds placed in a big, very low risk Blackrock money market type fund.

Anyway, assuming there are no hold ups for regulatory checks, the money only needs to be with Wise for two seconds before being moved to a normal UK account.

Thank you for your responses so far. I opened a Euro account with Wise last week. I have tried transferring some of the money from the account I have with this money transfer company from their website to the Wise account, but it appears that I need authorisation to do so. Now I'm trying to do this by email, but they are being very slow and hesitant about it. They don't respond readily to email and seem to insist on calling me, when I prefer to communicate by email in these matters. Please anyone, if you have a solicitor or estate agent recommend a money transfer company to you, say no and stick with Wise. Really wish I had.

I sold a Spanish property and transferred the euros into gbp using currencyfair.  The limit was 5k per day but some you win, some you lose.  Just transfer the money and get it into gbp savings accounts at 5%.  Tell the banks either end of the transaction or you may get the accounts frozen due to suspect activity.

Get someone you trust to oversee the transactions as a typo can be expensive.
