Canada Post Strike & Parcelforce: nightmare!

I don't really know what I expect to get out of posting this thread, but I'm boiling and need to let it out. Will try to be succinct.
- Wife & I bought some souvenirs in Japan. Nothing expensive, but personalised to my best friend & my family, all of whom love on Canada.
- I've had both FedEx & UPS lose parcels in the UK. Have always trusted Parcelforce.
- Went to post office, know Canada has a postal strike. Asked the chap: is there any way I can ship the parcels still, avoiding the strike, via Parcelforce? He said yes. I paid over £100 to send the two packages + insurance + tracked & signed.
- Been tracking online, packages are not moving after "Exported".
- Contacted Parcelforce who tell me: it was sent Global Priority, not Global Express, so now they're stuck in the strike.
I'm so livid. Why on earth would they accept the parcels, knowing they'll just go into the void of the strike? They could be stuck for months now, with me fretting over them! All the work we did picking out the perfect presents, and now they could be lost forever.
I would be happy with two outcomes:
- they deliver the parcels to me, and I figure out some other way to ship
- they charge me, upgrade the shipping method & send via FedEx.
I'm sure it will be option 3:
Wait on the strike, hope they don't get lost in a depot somewhere.
Infuriating! If the chap at the post office had got it right, I mean if I'm paying £100 already an extra £10 per parcel isn't going to break the bank, and they'd have the parcels by now 😤 fuming!

Does the tracking show where the parcel is?

I presume what the person in the post office meant was that they would still accept parcels to Canada sent via parcel force? My understanding is that Royal Mail have stopped accepting anything to be sent to Canada. However, with the Canadian postal services on strike, nothing is going to be delivered once it reaches there, except perhaps stuff sent by international courier e.g DHL, UPS etcNorthern Ireland club member No 382 :j1
