GPSR Compliance on eBay

What's the actual latest news with this one. I have no international sales option marked on eBay, but I do use GSP. Will eBay handle the sales through GSP behind the curtain? As in, if I leave GSP active, would my items still sell to the US and not be visible in the EU/NI?
I also see the following message from eBay:
GPSR also requires that information is provided about products - there are no changes required to your account. In the case of missing GPSR information for a specific listing, we may put the listing in question on hold, or restrict its visibility in the EU and/or Northern Ireland. However, there should not be GPSR-related action at an account level unless a relevant amount of listings are reported or a seller repeatedly violates requirements after suitable warnings.
Does that mean that I don't need to do anything and eBay will handle visibility? I was reading the eBay forums and a lot of sellers seem to be manually turning off EU/NI visiblity for their items, so I wonder why do that if eBay will handle?
Any information would be helpful. This whole thing is too messy..
