Claiming Universal Credit eligibility if you invest savings in a workplace pension

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me.  I'm a single parent working full time (AVG earnings - 28k PA).  Two children - one at university (20) and one at school (16).  I live in hosing assocation and rent is 135 per week.

In September of this year my universal credit claim was closed because I received a pension lump sum (11k after tax) from my recently deceased wife's pension.  I already had around 6k in the bank so this took me above the 16k threshold.

My intention is (or maybe was!) to move the lump sum into my own work place pension.

Around the time of closing my claim an advisor told me I could still claim UC if I did this with the lump sum.

BUT from experience, I have been misinformed about things on several occasions.

Could anyone confirm this or otherwise

Many thanks
