Portable heater

Options
My bathroom has a perfectly good central heating radiator - perfectly good except it only heats up one end of the bathroom.

Does anyone have any advice on portable heaters? I've seen a best buy for £59.99 or I could get a little fan heater for around £15.

Obviously there's no sockets in the bathroom but I could get an extension lead. I would only have it on before and possibly during my shower. And there are no children or pets to consider.

  • I'm no electrician but I'd exercise EXTREME caution about operating a fan heater or similar in a bathroom, unless it is specifically designed for use in a bathroom AND installed by a professional.

Ultimately your life to risk how you want to. Mrs grew up outside the UK where you can have plugs in the bathroom and often uses a hair dryer over the sink.

A proper solution would be a heater that has water resistance of IPx4 or better assuming it's going to be in Zone 2 rather than Zone 1 (or 0). Ideally it would be hardwired, in principle you could use a standard extension as long as the cord won't be able to go into Zone 2 but more sensibly a IPx4 or above too.

Would be a faff having to get the heater, plug it in etc each time you want a shower so a proper solution is probably better.
