Speeding ticket

Received a speeding ticket the other day but fortunately I have been allowed to attend a speed awareness course. My problem is that I'm currently out of the country and will not return until after the latest date I can take this course. Also, I don't have the letter in my possession.
Is there anyway of obtaining the speeding reference number if I don't have the letter but know where the offence happened?
What I want to do is take the speed awareness course on line which I understand is a popular option these days.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any help....

Who's dealing with your post in your absence?
I presume this is a fairly extended absence. The course has to be done within six months of the offence, so that you can be prosecuted if you don't attend or are kicked off it.1 -
If you know you have been offered the opportunity to take the course someone must be updating you on your mail? Can they not just take a photo of the letter and email it to you or just read the information off?
Many of the courses are virtual now, can you not do one of those?1 -

The course has to be done within six months of the offence,
It will have to be done sooner than that. Most forces do not offer a course much beyond three months from the offence and usually insist it is completed within 28 days of the offer.
As they do with fixed penalties, they will initiate court action soon after the offer expires (although I agree that many forces do not do that until the six month limit has almost been reached).
The OP should be wary of any time limit his offer is bound by. Once court action is begun the chance of a course is lost. Unlike a fixed penalty (where the court can sentence at the FP level if they think fit) the court cannot order a course.1 -

The organisers are not flexible...Good luck.1

I did a course last year but very nearly wasn't allowed to start it because my laptop kept crashing. Fortunately I was able to organise a replacement within a couple of minutes and they let me continue. If you don't remain on screen and participate throughout the whole of the course, you'll just be failed and be back at square one.
On the positive side I found the course quite informative and useful. No talking down or criticism.1
