pc display issues

alright so i really need to sort out an upgrade on the pc but not for a couple of weeks at least

anyway t'other day the pc screen wouldnt 'wake up'
pc was running and i could see activity on the led's
plus the monitor led was green(it goes orange on standby mode)
however it showed a black screen.

no other real issues on the pc bar an ongoing usb speed issue

on forced reboot it booted up fine with display however there was a sort of flickering on the display(faint) right up to the log in screen.
not visible on the desktop

ive now disabled any screensaver to see if thats an issue

cables and GF card all seem tighlty fitting and pc is well cooled/dust free

pc runs xp pro
tft monitor with dvi input
radeon x1650 GF card

so is somthing dying?

EDIT: think i just saw a flicker on the desktop :think:

Have you tried installing a new driver for the graphics card?

yeah tried a new driver.same

disabling the screensaver seems to have stopped the pc giving a black screen on wake up.
however the flickering is still there.especially as the screen woke but as i type now there is no flickering

Try the screen on another computer and another screen on this one.
Then you'll know if it's the 'puter or the screen.
