Cross Metered MPRN & Serial Numbers

So just looking to see if there are any other people which has had any experience in this issue. 

I love on a new development (been here now 4 years). Now, on this plot consisted with there consisted of 23 dwellings. 

Fast forward 4 years..after looking at how much money I've been spending on gas alone and it's eye watering. When I've queried it with previous supplier they've admitted, the MPRN along with a handful of residents had a different MPRN or Serial number to that on the bill.

However, current supplier isn't having it. Spoken to gas installers and they say there is evidence to suggest There has been cross metering but on a wide scale.

Due to my current supplier stubbornness, I'm taking my fight to the ombudsman.

What is people's experience, if any?

Any help would be appreciated.

What about the ombudsman experience?

    Crossed meters are not unknown on new developments. We've had a few people in similar situations on the forum. There are a couple of things you can do to prove it.
    Do you know which meters supply your property? Do the serial numbers on those meters match the ones on your bills?

  • I have the problem of a crossed meter with Eon. The meter number on their invoice does not match with the number of the supply meter itself.  My boiler engineer had to go to another meter in order to turn off my supply.. So I have a meter quoted on the invoice, which is NOT the meter that manages my gas supply.  In Oct '24 I first contacted Eon, who after 6 emails admitted I must have a Crossed Meter.  They had, they said, a specialist team, (the Cross Meter Team, would you believe) who would rectify the problem, Meanwhile they said I should carry on with the direct debit, despite receiving incorrect invoices.   They then gave 20 months (!!!!) as the lead time for this work to be done.  They would not say how many households were in the list - but is must run into thousands for that long a waitlist.  Apparently they sub contract the work, and so do not have any interest or management input into how effective (or otherwise) the Team is, 
    I am trying to find out if there is an action group or any group which has been publishing facts about this ?
