Hi all.
As the title states, do you still need to send part of the log book to the DVLA when scrapping or selling your vehicle?
I've gone on the official .Gov website and it seems you can notify them via online instead.
Unless I'm mistaken and that's only part of the process.
Thanks.

Tricky question. Should you
a) Believe the government's official advice, or
b) Ask some random strangers on the internet?4 -
Yes, you've been able to notify them online for a decade now.
By far and away the best way to do it - no postal delays or risks of loss, and takes effect immediately. You get a confirmation email back immediately and the letter in a few days.3 -
As above, doing it online is far and away the easiest way. Over the last couple of years I've sold 3 cars to traders (cars were scrap). The guy came to collect the car from my house, registered the change of keeper online on his phone whilst standing on my driveway, I got an email confirmation within seconds.Being a bit of an old dinosaur when it comes to such things I made sure I filed the confirmation email away safely for about a year - probably totally unnecessary !But yes, it's definitely the easiest way. As long as you receive the confirmation email and the hardcopy letter that follows, then you're covered.1
