I understand there is a pensioners discount card/day, does anybody know anything about it? Like how old you have to be, what the discount is, minimum spend, day of the week it is on? Any help would be grateful as we have to spend a fair bit of money in this type of store.

The b&q discount card is 10% off valid for over 60s on wednesdays
it is quite a good offer and no minimum spend required.
You just fill a form in and you can use it right away ask at the till
for details0 -
It's 10 per cent and normally available on Wed. No min. or max. spend - but it is only applicable to in-store stock - so you can't order a 10k kitchen and get 1k off (as my mother found out!:o).0

I worked at the new B and Q warehouse in Swindon and that was still doing the diamond day discount when i left (september)0 -
It's called the Diamond Card, and it's available to anyone over 60 all day on Wednesdays - you just have to take along some ID to prove your age and you can get a card immediately.
The discount didn't used to be available in Warehouse stores, but that has changed and it is now available in all stores.
The card entitles you to 10% off. There are some exclusions, which you will get as the "small print" when you sign up for your card, kitchens and bathrooms are excluded for example. However, I don't think it excludes all special order products.
There is a clause that says you can't get discount on someone else's behalf. So, if you are planning to buy something for a friend/family member, make sure you don't make the mistake of telling the checkout operator this / making it obvious by talking about it in front of them / getting your friend to pay. Just be discreet and you will be fine. You would be amazed at how many people make it obvious, and as a checkout operator you can't just ignore it (at least I couldn't)
I worked for B&Q for 7 years, so hopefully this is accurate info!0 -
Thank you everyone for all the information you have given. We are both over 60 so this will be a good saving for us as we are having to update our central heating and all the things that go with it.0
