Afternoon all, this is my first post, here goes...
I've recently received an e-mail from VW titled "Limited time only: Get more lighting for less".
Having read the e-mail they say that if I purchase via their apps I can have the internal and external lighting on my car operating at optimum. To me that reads that a) it currently not and b) the safety of the vehicle is compromised.
Any thoughts? I've contacted VW via messenger so we'll see what response they have.

Good Luck!As a pessimist, I can see where you are coming from, suggesting that something can be improved implies that it is less than optimum. However I suspect that VW are simply trying to up-sell pretty rainbow colours for the interior lights, and possibly having one foglight wink on when you turn the steering, the headlights coming on when you lock/unlock the car to the annoyance of other road users etc.- features that can be enabled at zero cost via a software switch, but they think people will pay ££££££££ forBasically stuff that "improves" (debatably) the experience over standard, rather than makes them brighter/more efficient.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Which VW?
Could be that a headlight update is to Matrix style lights.Life in the slow lane0 -
This is definitely not going to be a hardware upgrade at all. It's merely going to be software. They aren't the only manufacturer looking at over-the-air functionality upgrades.

As far as "safety is compromised" - no, the car meets all legal requirements...0 -
Likely switching on features in the VW app such as ambient lighting, the time the lights stay on after locking etc.
The car will meed all of the legal safety requirements as is, this will just be convenience functions that can be used via an app.
Matrix headlights if fitted in the UK are enabled, it is in North America where they are disabled due to them not being legal in some states.0 -
Thanks all, I’ve set my internal lighting as I need and the IQ headlights are great.0
