Hi,
I'm looking to move house so used the MSE credit report tool.
It flagged up a credit card I thought I had closed long ago. It is with RBS and has had the grand total of £5 arrears for over a decade. It is showing as having nearly £5k of available credit.
I have absolutely no details of the card (number, etc) and searching the RBS website for guidance was a fruitless endeavour.
How do I go about getting the account closed in the most efficient way?

Ring RBS explain the situation. They should be able to trace by your address at the time.
Although more than likely the account has been closed years ago & written off as it would not be cost effective to chase for such a small amount.
So simply do nothing 👍Life in the slow lane0 -
If you can't find any paperwork relating to this account (old statements, correspondence, etc) then you'll just need to contact RBS and supply them with enough detail to verify your identity in order to discuss the account. If it doesn't prove possible to do that on the phone, a written subject access request (see their privacy policy) ought to give you enough detail about the account to get it closed.1
