Tesco & Powergen Earn 2000 clubcard points

I thought I'd just let everyone know, after following Martin's advice to swap energy supplier, I checked out the site for the best deal. It came up with Powergen's online Dual Fuel deal. With this I could save £88.25 per year, on my existing dual fuel bill, and earn 1000 Tesco clubcard points. I decided to check out Tesco's own website http://www.tescoenergy.com/tesco/Utilities/ to see what they could offer. It came up with the same deal, but if you switched to Powergen before October 31st, you will receive 2000 clubcard points. (worth £20). If you have a Tesco clubcard, then this deal is worth checking out.
This deal worked out better than seperate Gas & Electric deals, due to the Dual Fuel discounts.
I hope this is of some use to anyone.
Happy saving,
Byyyeeee!!!!!!!!

We can certainly save money by switching to Powergen. We were going to do it through the Powergen website to get the 1000 points, then we were going to do it through the Currys website to get the £40 vouchers. Now, we are definitely doing it through the Tesco website to get the 2000 points. In addition, I have just spoken to someone at Powergen, via Tesco, and they have confirmed that I will be able to set up the direct debit via my Tesco credit card, thereby giving me additional points. All these points are going towards our next trip to Disneyland Paris.

    Many thanks for this.
  • Did anybody actually get the 2000 points allocated to them from this deal?

I never received my points and phoned Powergen, they advised me that the deal was only for 1000 points.

I checked the Tesco website and they are actually offering the deal again if you change before 28 February 2005. I pointed this out to Powergen and they advised me that this is a mistake as well.

Seems like I will have to make a trip to Trading Standards on this one as I am not getting any satisfaction from Powergen

I switched to Powergen through Greasy Palm and Uswitch. Got £1.50 from Greasy Palm, and 1000 points through Uswitch, got my points credited this time around, and recieved £17.00 in Tesco vouchers! I'm happy!

I'm already with powergen, can you just phone them up with your clubcard number do you think?

You should be earning 1 Tesco Clubcard point for every £1 you spend on your bill, but have to register your clubcard with them. If you have both electricity and gas from them then you should have got a bonus of at least 500 points, possibly 1000, so raise this when you register your clubcard. If you ask why you were not made aware of this perk when you transfered they may backdate the points to cover some, or all, of your previous bills.
    I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.

I never received my points and phoned Powergen,
I also switched my supplier so i could benefit from these points a couple of years ago, never received them though. I phoned Tesco clubcard who said it was down to Powergen so i phoned powergen who guess what.......said it was down to Tesco. I have only ever received 80 points in almost 3 years from powergen even though i pay £22.50 a month for my electric. So if thats the only reason you're going to change supplier....just for the points i wouldnt bother!!!
