Would 6 cars a minute during peak going past house put you off buying?

We have been looking for a house for while. We have found one which has the layout, rooms and space we need.
The house is on an entry /exit road to the estate, it is around 10 meters back from the road. There is also another entry /exit road which is the other end of the estate and I think most people use this. There is around 6 cars on average which go past a minute during peak times after work.
Would this be enough traffic to cause any health concerns from pollution or would it be classed as very low and quiet road? The traffic is only 20 mph and always moving.
We have been looking for a while and not sure if I am just being picky now as you can not have everything. Looking for some perspective from others.

6 cars at the busy time wouldn't bother me at all, especially if as set back as you describe.
I live on one of the roads into our village, the least favoured for village access because of its junctions but also the road to the school and rec. For most of the day it's a relatively quiet road, at school time it's a back to back nightmare of inconsiderate drivers just focused on picking up teenagers for the 1/2 mile drive home. It's quiet right now and I've just counted 4 cars in a minute, so 6 just at busy times wouldn't be busy really. I would sit somewhere and watch at the time you're likely to want to go out/come home and a few other times just to see what it's like. I used to have to leave 10 minutes early just to be able to get out of the road because of the school traffic0 -
Are you even going to be there at rush hour or will you also be commuting at that time?0

If it's cheap enough, no. You get used to these noises. Lived in a flat on Brixton hill in the 1970s. V noisy to start with, after a week didn't not.0

In terms of traffic flow, this would be classed as a quiet road. If the traffic is always moving then there's less reason for a build up of fumes. Wherever you are, there is always going to be some traffic pollution and you have to balance the convenience of having a road access and the house layout you like with the possibility of some pollution.
A couple of things to check: Is the estate going to be extended? (Check the council's planning portal, as that will increase flows.) However, most, edge of town estates will be extended eventually.
Google Maps has an air quality layer. It's worth checking this out if you're concerned. I think it varies (a bit) with time, so keep an eye on it for a while. It isn't very specific but gives a good overview.1 -
Sounds like a non issue.0

What's it like outside of rush hour? Are you even there at rush hour?
Whats between you and the road? You say it's 10m but is that lawn, hedges, driveway?
It's a very personal thing, for some a single car will cause disrupted sleep and annoyance and for others it would be really quiet. Our road is probably a bit quieter, though Im never here at rush hour, but ours is on an electric bus route. The cars are no problem but there is a sunken manhole cover in the road and every third bus hits it and that does make a noise. Buses run late but not 24/7 and it only really is notable if you have bad luck and its hit just as you're drifting off; certainly doesn't wake us when already asleep. Living room is at the back and can't hear it at all from there.0 -
Assuming all you said is true (20-30mph max, 10m back from the road constantly moving) then absolutely no issue whatsoever. Unless you live at the very end of a cul-de-sac or in the a**e end of nowhere you're going to get traffic. This is low level.
There are lots of houses who have far more than this almost on their front window, there are lots who have far faster traffic this distance.
I cant see this impacting future buyers so if you are ok with it then go for it.0 -

It has a hedge around the front of the house where the road is with a tiny bit of grass behind the hedge. In front of the hedge is path and in front of that is a bit of grass which the council own

We're on a through road about 10m back and probably get a similar amount of traffic. Compared to being at a dead end in a quiet cul-de-sac it's busy but compared to anything else it's really not a big deal.
If that's all you're worried about then go for it.
