Static Caravan help
Hi we have purchased at 2019 static on a park, signed for on 3 November, went to use it the first time and massive water leak in the boiler cupboard. So we used overnight on 28 November with no water. The park have advised it was due to the bad weather and not under warranty nor is the insurance covered and it is costing £2,000 to put right. This seem so unfair it already cost us £36,000 (part on finance) we are first time owners and was advised to have a drainage for winter which they booked us in for on 4 Janary. What on earth do we do we do not have spare £2k just like that. Very upset

2019? do you mean 2024? Why is not covered by your insurance?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

How did the bad weather cause it?….surely it has not been that cold so far this year, (or perhaps it has where your van is)..

I would assume that means the caravan is 5 years old; they would have more rights if it were brand new.

That sounds sensible, perhaps OP could confirm?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Stubod said:How did the bad weather cause it?….surely it has not been that cold so far this year, (or perhaps it has where your van is)..We have had negative temperatures in November, caravans aren't very well insulated so you have to drain the boiler down if you are switching it off- on the one we had it was really easy.Quite possibly it was frost damage from before the OP purchased it, surely it would have been drained down when it was prepared for sale, and it can't leak if it is empty. The OP didn't say whether they opened the door to a flood on 28 November, or got a flood when they turned the water on.If it was a car brought from a dealer, the OP would be in with a chance. A caravan, I don't know. A Private Sale, not a hope.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Not sure this is a motoring issue
If you buy a static caravan treat it the same as buying any other residential property. Plumbing and electric checks should be part of the pre purchase inspection. You would need a proper investigation as to what failed and why to result in a water leak.1
