Will the company you are purchasing new appliances from have a fit and remove service,I am assuming that new appliances will fill the space so that any marks where hinges have been will be hidden.
If you feel the exsisting machines are to good to scrap look for a charity who will come and take them away freeing up space for new ones.
Once new machines are in place you may need to get plinths refitted but not a difficult job for a odd jobber.0 -
good point - must do some measuring to see if the freestanding stuff will fit width wise where the integrated ones are - if they do that would be good option

As long as the water supplies have working isolation valves it's an easy job to remove and disconnect the old ones. If the pipes/plugs go into a neighbouring cupboard it can be a good job to put string on them before removing as you can then use the string to pull the replacement ones through.
Do you want to save the doors from the old machines? If you use a standard "freestanding" service that may not include removing the doors. On a washer or dryer it's just 4 screws to undo from the front of the machine. A dishwasher the door normally lifts off and will have a bracket on the back.
The only actual work that will be required is cutting down the plinth/kickboard and maybe adding additional clips. This will somewhat depend on how perfect you want the solution and if the gaps are overly generous in width. We replaced an integrated washer with a freestanding one but without going into too much detail because the gap was too big we either had to center the machine in the gap meaning from certain angles you can see the raw edge of the kick board or we'd move it over to the edge of the gap and leave a notable space where there was no kick board
If you want the delivery people to do it all, you'll need to speak to them before buying as the cutting the plinth won't be included in the £35 freestanding setup cost but probably would in the circa £120 integrated setup cost. Otherwise have it fitted minus the plinth and get an odd job guy to cut it down after.1 -
thanks for this - will certainly look at the setup services. was it a dishwasher where you replaced the integrated one with the freestanding? just wondering if the freestanding will fit in the carcass gap of the integrated one?0

In our case both machines arent in carcasses, going from one end to the other we have a end board, then the gap for the first appliance (dishwasher in our case) then a cupboard unit with the sink above then a gap (washer) and then the blanked off part of a rectangular (rather than L or diagonal) corner unit. The gap for the washer is too big so there is a circa 4cm filler panel thats attached to the corner unit
For our chosen brand both integrated and freestanding dishwasher are both 598mm or 448mm depending on if you are going full size or skinny. The free standing ones are deeper though by about 5cm1 -

That should cost far less than new appliances.
What are the problems? Perhaps someone on here can help find a solution.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
