Amazon emptied my inactive account

4 yrs ago I redeemed 1 US giftcard via my email & ended up with a US account as well as my UK Amazon account 😳 I then redeemed 2 more US ones which again went into US account not my UK one 🙄 I carried on using my UK account hoping to find something I could purchase from US with these $, for 4 yrs the money has sat there in what is an inactive account.  The funds were there in 2023.

With black Friday looming I decided to buy some jewellery for my daughter & get rid of the extra account once & for all.

November 2024 US balance acc Zero!

The money has disappeared, the accounts been wiped clean, no sign of my redeemed giftcard or any purchases to explain the missing funds.

22.11.24 an Amazon employee spotted something was amiss & credited only half the missing cash back into my account from who knows where, another employee promised the rest would follow within 48hrs.   The other half of my missing funds never reappeared & I've been backwards & forwards with bots & staff for last few weeks 😕

Is someone seeking inactive Amazon accounts and emptying them? 🤔

I'm at the end of my tether, I've been robbed by Amazon & they are back peddling 😭

You haven't been robbed by Amazon, and nor are they back-pedalling.  It sounds as if there's been an automatic purge of an inactive account and for whatever reason you weren't notified.  A human has intervened and reinstated some of the balance, and the rest seems to have been delayed.  All you can do is to persevere and hope it gets resolved.

How much are you expecting from the second half of the funds?
  • I've been in contact numerous times & they keep asking me for proof which I've also sent several times now.

3 weeks numerous calls, chats & emails & still no closer to having this sorted, only 1 employee helped & since then they are asking for duplicate information & passing me onto other colleagues.

If this isn't sorted soon my daughters Xmas gift will not be here for Xmas 🫤

Its not a huge amount it's peanuts to them

Well yes, they are one of the worlds biggest businesses, but that's irrelevant.  All you can do is keep trying.  The reason for asking for the amount at stake is that there comes a point at which it's worth letting it go.  If you continue to get nowhere, I don't think you have any options because Amazon US isn't subject to UK consumer laws, and there's always the risk that taking legal action may see your account closed permanently.
