Windscreen scratch(es)

I have a series of vertical scratches spaced about 4-6 inches apart on the drivers side (outside) of my windscreen.

No idea how they got there -- when using an ice scraper, I always scrape horizontally - and these scratches are vertical

They are barely detectable with a finger nail.

Any ideas on if these could be removed easily/safely myself or is this a job for someone who knows what they are doing ?

I have used Cerium Oxide polish successfully to remove very light scratches from a windscreen.

Most car insurance will pay for a repair (from their authorised company/ies) if you want, with a small contribution from you aka the excess - mine is £20.  Likely better than you making the problem worse if in your view of the road.

Yes they are. They are very much of the type that once you see them, you can’t unsee them. But my other half can’t see them (yet)

Have just checked with my garage- they wouldn’t cause an MOT fail.

Bought some glass polishing compound to try- will test on a rear quarter pane first
