    I think it is AmEx's own policy.  Amex credited my account with the missing funds very soon after submitting the claim (with supporting evidence of Amazon incident - police report etc.).
     That's good because Amazon and many other companies will delete your account if you are successful with a chargeback.

    From Amazon, nothing was missing, possibly because it contained non expensive items? It would help to stop this happening if Amazon used decent packaging.
