Brand New USB Stick and Virus / Risk
Comments

A likely explanation here is the counterfeiters placed the wrong fake drive in the wrong fake packaging
Given Amazon allow almost anyone to sell absolutely anything, I'd never buy a USB stick from them unless I was sure it was from the official store of the manufacturer. Even that is a risk as how sure can I be there warehouse won't mix up real stock with black market.

Thanks everyone - I think it is likely the USB sticks are clean and OK to use but - given their nominal value - they'll be going to the trash can. It is a shame because I don't like generating waste that has served no purpose. If it had been just the one, I really would have trusted it to be a genuine packing mistake. Receiving three in separate packages in quick succession raised the alarm bells.0
