Kitchen LED lights issue

I have a kitchen that was installed just over a year ago and some of the remote controlled LED lights are now only working with a very poor level of light output. This change happened just over a week ago.

The remote control doesn’t have any branding on it.  The remote controls three sets of LED lights that are accessed by displaying a number for the set of lights and then choosing it using the on/off button on the remote. Other elements on the remote are not used for our lights installed.

The two other sets of LED lights controlled by the remote seem to be working okay.

The kitchen installers aren’t easy to contact and I’m not expecting to get much support from them.
Some of the equipment that is used to control the lights is reasonably easily accessible but some are wedged above a cooking hood that is built into a cupboard.

I’m not a too sure whether anyone is gonna be able to identify the components andpoint me in the right direction as to why some of these lights are not working properly, but I attach some pictures of the various parts including the remote control.
thanks for any advice.

  • It would seem to me either the control ( not the remote) is faulty if a variable lighting level is in use or probably more likely the constant voltage driver.
The latter would be easy to test with the correct equipment bit is accessible you could swap drivers with a set of the working led lights to prove it is faulty.

Sold by Hafele a well known kitchen supplier. If you cannot get satisfaction from whom you purchased the kitchen get in touch with Hafele direct as the give a good long guarantee. https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/products/lighting-electrical-fittings/lighting/73/ shows up your 24v driver.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I didn’t make it clear that these three kitchen cabinet LED lights (one of which only is suddenly very dim) are a fixed lighting level and not variable. Therefore I hope this simplifies the diagnostics.

If only one of the 3 has gone dim then it may just be a failing 'bulb'.
Can you try swapping it with one of the others, that should tell you if it's just that one bulb/unit or if it's the power supply.
I'm guessing that you probably have these which are a push fit: https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/product/led-downlight-set-24-v-rated-ip20-65-mm-loox-led-3038/P-01636613/

I realise these things can be difficult to get to when built in, if in doubt then be safe and get an electrician to take a look.
EDIT- Thinking again it would probably be easiest to just swap round the 24V plugs where they connect into the black box, if you can get to it.
If you swap all 3 plugs to different positions and the same one is still dim than that shows it's that particular unit which has failed and not the supply. (If a different one goes dim then it's the black box which is faulty).

  • I have probably assumed incorrectly that there are three driver 'black boxes' but if only one proceed as above!

I am assuming there must indeed be 3 driver boxes - and these are the black boxes in the photos I’ve posted.
I am reasonably certain it can’t be a blown LED light array that’s gone as both under counter lights are working at a very dim level on two separate sides of the kitchen. They are turned on together by the remote but these lights are completely separate.
    thanks again

Mmm, the kit on the page I linked shows 3 spotlights but only one driver (with 4-sockets for lights) which is what I was going from.
    LED Downlight Set 24 V Rated IP20 65 mm Loox LED 3038
However even if there were seperate drivers for each light then swaping the dim one to a different driver would show if it was the light/cable or the driver that was at fault.
