Son currently gets DLA will be 16 in April. Have received a letter from DWP and a form to fill in to become appointee. The form asks reasons why I need to be appointee for child what do I write his diagnosis? The box is not really big
Thanks
Thanks

Why can't your son manage PIP himself? Perhaps if you explain here, we can help you figure out what the best way to explain the situation is.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Use separate sheets, with name, DOB ETC on the top of each.
Even better do on computer & print off so you have a copy of your claim. Jut write on their pages "See Attached Pages"

It’s not about his diagnosis, it’s about his capacity to manage his own finances. So for example, some people with a learning disability can do that with a little support, others can’t.
So on that basis, you need to explain why you feel your son needs someone to manage his money for him.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Yes, the appointee does that because the person can’t. The primary purpose is still to manage the benefits process for someone who is not capable of doing so. Which comes back to capacity. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

If I put all of this in the letter will this be OK?0 -
Yes, that all sounds fairly straightforwards. They will arrange to come out to see you if they need to so you can explain further then if they have any more questions. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
