And honestly, the fact that it was a 'domestic' issue in a highly stressed situation isn't something which much improves the situation for me! Working in a care home can be highly stressed, and people are depending on you for personal care.

IF you can honestly explain in mitigation that you were young, and that you have since learned how to handle stressed situations better, you'll do better than if you seem to be presenting it as "it was only my mum and dad, they overreacted and called the police, they were winding me up and I snapped".

    Please consider this carefully ...
Well the incidents occured when I lived with my Mum and Dad and they were encouraging me to move out of the house. I was intoxicated with alcohol at the time and I was a merchant sailor waiting to go back to sea. It was back in 2019. I have since moved out and have my own place. There hasn't been any trouble since.

Just hoping they don’t find out is routinely a terrible idea (in many facets of your life tbf).

Your arrests are relevant to the role due to the victims. Full disclosure and getting turned down for the job is better than being back on the forum in 3 months time because that one employee who doesn’t like you for eating the last hobnob went gossiping to your employer and they sack you for dishonesty with a !!!!!! reference.
    Union official.
    CiPD qualified.

Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!

I know and I agree with this.

So I've been told that when the checks are done and the certificate is sent to my house I will obviously need to take it to the care home.

Will there then be a sit down maybe? Will I need to go through every entry? I will do my best to explain but I'm worried that the risk might be too much for them.

It depends on the care home. When I was a care home manager, because it was a larger organisation with an HR department,  decisions  about DBS were taken at a higher level than the manager.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Well I can only tell them the truth. I definitely think they liked my vibe during the interview but my nasty temper back in my criminal days a few years ago might cause oneself to lose out on this opportunity.

I really would be careful how you phrase things! Earlier you said "All the arrests went to no further action" so arguably not criminal.

Yeah. So what would my explanation be if they demand one? These arrests years ago.

So this is quite recent and you were an adult?

Did you tell them about all three arrests? If not, I'd go back now and 'fess up. For an enhanced check, all contact with police, adult and juvenile, needs to be declared. Amazing how many don't realise that they have a juvenile caution, for example.

It looks much better if it is declared rather than only comes out on the DBS check. You might want to also ask about their processes with positive checks? They may leave it to the manager or it might be centralised HR.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Yes I tried to fess up but I wasn't given much chance to speak. I guess they'll be a decision somewhat immediately when they see the DBS check. If there's a sit down I will just tell the truth with a blow by blow account of each arrest. No fun but it's best to be honest.

Please, get yourself some advice on how to disclose from somewhere like NACRO: https://www.nacro.org.uk/nacro-services/criminal-record-support/

You come across as quite blasé about all this. I'm reasonably broad-minded in these areas, but you come across as too "no big deal" for my liking. It's not that long ago. You're going to be working with vulnerable adults. It's potentially a very big deal.
