Morning all and thanks for the start @Scarlet. Dull and wet again here with strong winds forecast for the rest of the day; still under a yellow weather warning but I think we've escaped the worst of it, unlike those in Wales and the South West.
@Floss - Thanks for the suggestion of checking the roof felt. It's a thought but, as it's a block of maisonettes and I'm on the ground floor, I'd expect my upstairs neighbours to have noticed something too but they haven't. It could be the external window seal of the bathroom that has failed, we'll see what the site surveyor says when he comes.
@IzzyBee - Your MiL's back-handed compliments made me chuckle.
Yesterday I made celery & bacon soup and wrote Xmas cards. Not too many nowadays so that didn't take too long, although it did feel strange signing just my name. Clean laundry put away, bedding changed - the usual housework stuff. Last night I started on one of the cross stitch kits I got, it made a change from the usual knitting.
Good news for DS, all his test results were normal so he's been discharged from the community Cardiac service but will need 6-monthly check-ups going forward.
Today I'll make a SC rice pudding using a tin of coconut milk retrieved from the cupboard and then ponder on meals for the rest of the week. Today it's beef/gravy, carrots, sprouts and mash.
I hope everyone has a safe and peaceful day. Hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning everyone
I've just caught up on the last few days, but I've instantly forgotten what everyone said.
Thanks for all the good wishes for little one, she's still got a bit of a cough but not too bad and her tummy has settled down. I spent most of the day with her yesterday doing lots of Christmas crafts, while DD painted my bedroom - it's going to need another coat so I'll have to buy another tin of paint.
The weather was terrible here yesterday, very strong winds and pouring rain all day. I had an early appointment to get my hair cut, which was instantly squashed when I had to put my hood up! I got a taxi down to DDs afterwards.
I seemed to be awake half the night, with my bins blowing round the garden, the gate banged so much I think it must be broken, and it sounded like the roof was going to blow off! It's still just as windy this morning, the contents of my blue bin are all over the garden but I'll not be venturing out to sort it until it dies down a bit. At least it has stopped raining and is a bit brighter, yesterday it was dark all day.
Little one will have her endoscopy tomorrow to find out if the operation she had on her stomach needs re-done, it seems likely it will. She has to have a general anaesthetic so we're hoping she will be ok to come back home afterwards. We were chatting about it yesterday - she just takes it all in her stride. Then on Thursday she has an appointment with her respiratory consultant ,again at Newcastle.
Right, I'm still in my bed though I have lots of jobs I could be doing, I better move.
Taff / Izzy I remember when I was in my teens my mam said to me 'you're like me you haven't been blessed with prettiness so you'll have to make a bit of an effort' !!
Hope everyone has a good day and the wind doesn't do too much damage x
Edited to make it make more sense!

Dp1, your dgd sounds like mine. When she was 4 years old she had emergency brain surgery which left her visually impaired. But over the years she has had numerous operations and hospital appointments which she just takes in her stride. The only thing she really dislikes are blood tests.
Love and hugs to you all.7 -
Just popped back to say the sofa arrived at 8.10 this morning, two lovely chaps managed to get it in fine - it was in a box!
All I had to do was screw the legs in place, put felt feet on (I have oak floors) and it was done. I've covered it in a throw as I'm a mucky pup and would like to keep it clean!
Managed to cut up the box - must get a new stanley knife blade - and took it to the tip along with the old roller blind. I've spray painted the rather large black clock white for the kitchen, put the tree up, done 3 loads of washing which was nearly dry outside and is presently airing by the fire.
I'm now going to sit on my sofa and chill for a while. XX10
